About the Role

About the Teams

Our Tax Consulting business offers companies comprehensive tax advisory, compliance, and transaction services. We assist clients in making informed decisions regarding their investments and all tax-related matters.

You will have the opportunity to work within one of the following teams:

  • Business Tax: Help clients understand and manage complex tax issues across all industries, addressing their most challenging corporate tax affairs.
  • Global Investment & Innovation Incentives (Gi3): Our Innovation Tax and Tax Depreciation teams help companies secure funding and tax relief for Research & Development, patents, and capital investments in real estate.
  • Transactions & Investment Funds Tax: Advise clients on strategic and commercial tax decisions related to investments, fund structures, business acquisitions/disposals, and the investment process.
  • Global Employer Services: Assist clients with workforce challenges, focusing on incentives, rewards, and compliance with international employment tax regulations.

What You'll Do

Join our student programme within Tax Consulting and gain experience working on the tax affairs of diverse companies across various industry sectors. You will engage with a wide range of clients, from tech start-ups and public sector bodies to FTSE 100 and Global 2000 multinational groups, as well as high-net-worth private clients.

Your role will involve a blend of reporting and advisory work. This could include researching and writing about tax-related topics, or getting involved in pricing and deals. The varied nature of the work may see you advising on mobility programmes or assisting businesses with tax authorities. International collaboration with clients and colleagues is common.

Where You'll Work

Deloitte operates a hybrid working system, combining office and home-based work to support your development and offer flexibility. Client-facing roles may require attendance at client sites, and meetings will be a mix of online and in-person.

All workspaces are accessible. If you require further flexibility due to a health condition or caring responsibilities, please discuss this with the team. Information on parent and carer policies is available.

How You'll Develop

We aim to provide world-class practical experience alongside the technical knowledge required for professional qualifications. You will be immersed in client work, learn practical skills, and receive support from coaches, people leaders, and your team. Development pathways may lead to qualifications such as Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT), Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA), Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS), or Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA).

What We're Looking For

This programme is designed for university students who are performing well academically and wish to gain real-world experience. You must be in your penultimate year of study (or progressing to a Masters) and on track to achieve a predicted degree classification of 2:1 or above in any discipline.

We look for 10 core skills essential to all our Early Careers roles. More details can be found in the 'Discover What We Look For' section of our Candidate Zone.

Application Information

  • Application Deadline: 23rd October 2026. We recommend applying early as some roles may close before the deadline due to high demand.

  • One Application Policy: A strict one application per year policy applies to all Early Careers opportunities. Ensure you apply for the role that is the best fit for you.
  • Conversion Opportunity: Successful candidates on the Summer Vacation Scheme may have the opportunity to convert to a corresponding Graduate role the following year, within the same team and location.
