About the Role

This is a 4-year Software Modelling Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship based in Bristol, starting in September 2027.

The Qualification

You will study for a Digital and Technology Solutions Degree Apprenticeship, Software pathway, leading to a BSc (Hons) Digital and Technology Solutions awarded by University Centre Weston.

The Opportunity

This role involves a blend of day release attendance at University Centre Weston, e-learning, and workplace projects. You will typically attend university one day per week. The rest of the working week will be spent at MBDA Bristol within the Simulation and Modelling function.

System modelling is crucial for ensuring MBDA provides reliable and cost-efficient weapon systems. You will build dynamic system performance models, embedded systems, and real-time models for MBDA products throughout their lifecycle. These models are used for guiding product design, verifying system performance, reducing testing costs, and supporting training environments.

You will learn to build simulation software using languages and environments such as:

  • Mathworks (MATLAB, Simulink and Stateflow)
  • Fortran
  • C/C++

Teams implement Agile working practices and dynamic working across multiple projects, using collaborative tools. You will work closely with other departments and companies to integrate subsystem models and design data, gaining a broad understanding of the weapon system architecture.

Placements outside the department are encouraged to broaden your knowledge of the wider business.
