Software Engineer - Undergraduate Placement

This is a 1-year undergraduate placement starting in September 2027.

The Opportunity

Our Software team delivers software for the next generation of weapons in an ever-evolving environment. We work on a range of products, from high-integrity software for weapon systems to mission planning solutions.

During this placement, you will gain exposure to aspects of a software development lifecycle, including:

• Collaborating with other teams in various development stages for weapon systems.
• Working on both embedded and front-end software development across platforms like Windows and Linux.
• Utilising programming languages such as C, C++, C#, and Java.
• Learning about the functional and technical robustness of project deliverables.
• Understanding the importance of technical documentation.
• Interacting with other departments to gain a general overview of the business.

What we're looking for

• Current undergraduate studying towards a degree in Computing/Computer Science, Engineering (including Aeronautical/Aerospace, Electrical/Electronic, Mechanical or Software), Mathematics, Physics, or a relevant STEM discipline.

Important Information

• Dynamic working: 5 days per week on-site due to workload classification.
• Security clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship. Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS) are required.
• Placement duration: 1 year, starting September 2027.
• Potential for future roles: Perform well on your placement and you could secure a graduate role before your final year.
