You'll broaden your network, work with experienced professionals, and discover potential career paths.
Where you'll be working
You will join a specialist risk and governance team within the Risk function, contributing to Nationwide's safe, responsible, and effective operations. Your work will involve supporting regulatory compliance, protecting the organisation from economic crime, or overseeing operational risks. You will gain practical experience in how large organisations manage risk, strengthen governance, and make informed decisions.

You will contribute to meaningful work from day one, with support for your learning and growth. The placement includes an induction, development support, and structured learning. You will also join a 10-month collaborative project with other Industrial Placement students.
Your placement will be in one of three specialist areas:
- Compliance and Regulatory Affairs: Navigating the regulatory landscape, providing advice, challenging decisions, and ensuring products and services lead to good customer outcomes. This team also manages engagement with regulators.
- Economic Crime: Protecting Nationwide, its members, and their money from financial crime by setting policies, providing advice, and overseeing controls related to fraud, anti-money laundering, sanctions, bribery, and corruption.
- Operational Risk Oversight: Providing independent oversight and challenge to ensure operational risks are identified, assessed, and managed effectively, with a focus on technology, resilience, and governance.
You will develop transferable skills in communication, stakeholder engagement, problem-solving, analysis, and continuous improvement. Opportunities to support strategic projects will also be available.
