About the Role
This is a fantastic and career-enriching job role for a 2nd-year Civil Engineering student looking for a placement from September 2027 to July 2028.
About You
Our minimum 40-week industry placement programmes focus on on-the-job learning to complement your university course, with a focus on technical skills and progression towards increasing responsibility. You will learn through on-site experience, your team, line manager, and formal training courses.
Those who show consistent progress may be considered for employment post-graduation via our graduate programme. Exceptional performers may be awarded a bursary for their final university year and the opportunity to return on the relevant graduate scheme.
Due to the location of our projects, it is essential that you hold a valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
Where possible, we will place you on a project close to home, but this is not always possible. Therefore, you must be willing to lodge away from home during the working week, in which case we have a subsistence policy in place.
Why Work for Us?
We offer a range of benefits, including:
- Competitive salary
- Competitive annual leave and an additional day off on your birthday
- Private medical care
- Pension
- Life Assurance
- Cycle to Work scheme
- Shopping and restaurants vouchers, rewards, and discounts
- Training and development opportunities - comprehensive skills-based training
- Family friendly policies including enhanced maternity benefits
- Employee Assistance programme
- Mental health, physical health, and financial support
- 24/7 Virtual GP service
Right to Work
In accordance with Home Office guidance, successful candidates will be required to evidence their right to work in the UK before commencement of employment. This role does not meet the requirements for Home Office sponsorship requirements under the Skilled Worker route. Candidates are therefore encouraged to consider their own right to work options without VolkerFitzpatrick sponsorship.
