About the Role

This is a 1-year industrial placement where you will support the design and development of infrared imaging products for remote sensing and thermal imaging applications.

What You Will Do

  • Support the design and development of world-leading infrared imaging products for applications such as earth observation, border surveillance, and search and track systems.
  • Utilise state-of-the-art methods, technology, and tools across the development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, acceptance, and product support.
  • Interface with customers (internal and external) on design factors.
  • Liaise closely with engineers from other disciplines, including Mechanical, Software, Systems, Supportability, and Design Integrity.
  • Gain experience in mixed-signal IC design at transistor, cell, or block level schematic and layout.
  • Test devices within the lab.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Support design, simulation, and verification of circuit blocks.
  • Support transistor-level layout of circuit blocks.
  • Support characterisation of circuits in the lab to retrieve measurement data.
  • Assist in the progression of IC design development activities.
  • Support test set-up and automation of data acquisition.

Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required

  • Currently studying an electronics-biased degree with modules covering digital design, analogue design, and signal processing.
  • Experience of using PCB design and simulation tools is highly desirable.

Security Clearance

Many roles are subject to security and export control restrictions. Successful applicants will be asked to provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK, criminal record declaration, and employment/education history verification for the previous five years. Further National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply for more sensitive posts, generally requiring continuous residence in the UK for the previous five years (or ten for DV clearance).
