About the Role

Role Description

This technical role focuses on the Radio Frequency (RF) aspects of hardware design. You will apply foundational theories and concepts of RF engineering gained through professional qualifications or equivalent experience. Working under technical supervision, you will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of both new products and technology upgrades for legacy systems. You will build a working knowledge of the Products & Training Services (P&TS) Electrical and Electronic Engineering processes and develop an understanding of radar and sensor technologies, including how these systems operate and integrate within wider engineering solutions.

Core Duties

Under technical supervision:

  • Support RF & microwave circuit design including component selection, evaluation, simulation, schematic capture, PCB layouts, and preparing guidance for PCB design teams.
  • Support electromagnetic simulation and analysis.
  • Contribute to design verification using a combination of simulation, analysis, and test techniques.
  • Contribute to design documentation and technical reports.

The Radar Team

BAE Systems provides Radar products and support services to a diverse range of customers worldwide, including the Royal Navy. Becoming a member of the Radar team will provide you with significant exposure to the BAE Systems organisation as you engage with engineering functions across the business, delivering radar capabilities and development, with the radar team covering the whole engineering cycle using the latest cutting-edge technology. You will have the opportunity to grow and enhance your skills and knowledge within a supportive, global business.

Security and Export Control

Please be aware that many roles at BAE Systems are subject to both security and export control restrictions. These restrictions mean that factors such as your nationality, any nationalities you may have previously held, and your place of birth can restrict the roles you are eligible to perform within the organisation. All applicants must as a minimum achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
