About the Role

Role Description

Within the Submarines Commercial function, you will work across two complementary disciplines, combining Contracts and Cost Estimating/Pricing activities. You will scope and price work, support the development of business cases, create documentation to support business programmes, secure funding from customers, primarily the Ministry of Defence, and maintain auditable databases. Using a variety of toolsets, you will contribute to commercial activities across a range of submarine programmes and work with stakeholders across the business to support successful delivery.

Core Duties

  • Draft, review and apply contract terms and conditions to support a range of submarine programmes.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support project delivery and commercial objectives.
  • Negotiate contracts, agreements and commercial arrangements with customers and stakeholders.
  • Identify, assess and mitigate commercial risks, while supporting decision making that considers both risk and opportunity.
  • Apply internal policies, processes and governance requirements, providing guidance and support where appropriate.
  • Undertake pricing activities, develop cost models, analyse budgets and expenditure, and support the development of business cases and funding submissions.

The Submarines Team

Be a part of designing, building, testing, and commissioning the Astute and Dreadnought Class, the largest and most advanced submarines operated by the Royal Navy, providing a powerful and secure deterrent for the United Kingdom.

Security and Vetting

Please be aware that many roles at BAE Systems are subject to both security and export control restrictions. These restrictions mean that factors such as your nationality, any nationalities you may have previously held, and your place of birth can restrict the roles you are eligible to perform within the organisation. All applicants must as a minimum achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
