  • Requires a BEng or MEng in Civil or Structural Engineering (MEng required for Rail), graduating in 2027 or 2025/2026 with at least a 2:2.
  • Applications close on 18 December 2026, but early application is encouraged.
  • Work involves project delivery, design using advanced software, site visits, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

About the Role

The two-year Graduate GROW Programme supports your transition from student to professional, integrating you into client work and real projects from day one. Your journey will be unique, shaped by your chosen specialism and the variety of projects you contribute to. You will build technical expertise through meaningful client engagements and project work, while business acumen and professional skills will be developed through centrally delivered graduate cohort training. Although there are no formal rotations, you are encouraged and supported to proactively seek opportunities to broaden your experience.

As an engineer joining GROW, you will specialise within your chosen discipline and obtain the necessary experiences to become a technical expert. Engineering at Arcadis involves applying a human filter to technical expertise and training, making an impact through innovation and creativity. During this two-year programme, you will develop core engineering and consulting techniques applicable to working with clients in the UK and potentially internationally.

Role Accountabilities

Our civil engineering teams work across highways, rail, energy, and water, delivering safe, high-quality, and sustainable design solutions. As a graduate, you will be supported and mentored while contributing to projects ranging from local schemes to major international developments. You will work with diverse, multidisciplinary teams and follow a structured path towards professional qualification.

Using advanced software and digital tools, you will design new infrastructure and assess existing assets for repair or reuse. You will gain hands-on experience across sectors, applying your knowledge to real-world challenges. You will learn about project delivery models, contracts, and commercial constraints, while collaborating with other disciplines and attending site visits to ensure your designs are safe, buildable, and sustainable. Civil engineers are central to tackling the climate emergency, therefore you will help deliver resilient, low-carbon solutions, contributing to maximising environmental, social and economic impact.

Sector Focus Areas:

  • Highways and Transportation: Shape the future of transport infrastructure by designing safe, sustainable, and innovative solutions. Work on roads, junctions, bridges, and active travel routes. Design foundations, earthworks, retaining structures, or drainage systems using tools like Civil 3D, OpenRoads, and BIM. Embrace generative design and focus on enhancing highway resilience. Gain exposure to transport planning, traffic modelling, and policy alignment. Engage with clients and stakeholders, developing skills across all project delivery stages on UK and international projects.
  • Water Management: Work on a wide variety of waste and clean water infrastructure and non-infrastructure assets to deliver sustainable solutions, ensuring resilience and quality of water supplies through technologically advanced and natural solutions.
  • Rail: Design and deliver infrastructure supporting the railway network, including station infrastructure, bridges, utility crossings, drainage, and support structures. Collaborate across disciplines in a complex, safety-critical environment, integrating designs that meet strict rail standards. Use digital tools to develop resilient, future-ready solutions. Gain experience across all project delivery stages on UK and international projects.
  • Energy: Support clients in delivering new connections and grid upgrades to help the UK Electricity Industry meet its Net Zero carbon reduction ambitions.

No matter the sector, the programme is an opportunity to grow your skills and ability in delivering sustainable solutions. The work will involve some site work visits and inspections.
