About the Team

The Technology Infrastructure programme offers non-software development roles within the Chief Technology Organisation (CTO). This organisation supports technology teams in designing, implementing, and supporting applications and infrastructure for trading systems, payment systems, mobile applications, and other end-user technology.

Programme Overview

This summer analyst programme offers a unique experience tailored to your interests and current business needs. Potential areas of focus include:

• Hosting, Application & Database Services: Infrastructure capacity planning, Windows/Unix/Cloud Operations, Storage and Database Management.
• Network Services: Internal/External Network Management, Network Service Assurance.
• Business Operations: Business Management, Financial Management.
• Datacentre Services and Portfolio Management: Datacentre Projects and Operations, Infrastructure Project Management.
• Mainframe Services: Mainframe Engineering and Operations.

Training and Development

Extensive formal training is provided at the start of the programme, supplemented by on-the-job support, educational speaker events, and mentorship throughout.

Responsibilities

You will deploy and support core infrastructure that underpins the bank's daily operations. Specific roles include:

• Infrastructure Engineer: Maintain, improve, and support critical systems including servers, storage, databases, and data centres. Gain exposure to infrastructure projects, upgrades, and operational support.
• Cloud Solutions Engineer: Support the delivery of secure and reliable cloud-based solutions, gaining exposure to cloud technologies, infrastructure operations, automation, and security.
• Network Engineer: Support the bank’s internal and external networks, gaining exposure to network monitoring, troubleshooting, security, and performance management.
• Mainframe Engineer: Support and improve large-scale, business-critical systems, gaining hands-on experience with automation, monitoring, reliability, and performance.
• Service Delivery: Support project planning, reporting, stakeholder engagement, budgeting, and business performance activities, gaining experience in project management and financial planning.

Eligibility

• Must have the right to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not available.
• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with a completion date between September 2027 and July 2028.
• On track for a minimum 2:1 degree classification (or equivalent).
• Available to join the programme from June 2027 to August 2027.

Successful interns may be offered full-time employment commencing in July 2028, with potential January or April start dates also available.

• A technical qualification (e.g., Computer Science).
• Background or knowledge in programming/scripting (e.g., Python, XML, JavaScript, Windows PowerShell), basic operating system commands (e.g., Windows/Linux), databases (e.g., SQL), and analysing datasets (e.g., Excel, SPSS, SAS).
• Cloud DevOps skills.
