About the Role

This industrial placement offers hands-on experience in Digital Customer Experience, Communications, and Marketing across two six-month rotations: one in the Brands & Marketing Website team and another in the Customer Marketing team. You will contribute to shaping how customers engage with Nationwide through digital and communication channels, supporting fairer banking practices.

This placement is ideal if you are interested in digital customer experiences, customer marketing, or customer value management. You will build practical, future-ready skills by contributing to website journeys, content, and communications that reach millions of customers annually.

Your learning pathway will combine digital learning, interactive workshops, and insights from leaders and industry experts with practical on-the-job experience. You will also learn alongside colleagues from across Nationwide, helping you apply new skills, build your network, and understand the business.

Where You'll Be Working

You will be part of the Group Customer & Communications function, working within the Brands & Marketing Website team and the Customer Marketing team. These teams are responsible for shaping customer engagement across Nationwide's digital and communication channels. You will collaborate with colleagues from Marketing, Digital, Insight, and other departments to create clear, relevant, and accessible customer experiences.

Location

Nationwide offers hybrid working where possible. This role requires you to be based at our Swindon Head Office for at least two days per week, with the remainder of your time offering generous access to home working.

What You'll Be Doing

Over two six-month rotations, you will gain practical experience in how the Website and Customer Marketing teams create customer experiences. Your contributions will impact millions of customers annually.

Website Team:

  • Support improvements to content and digital journeys.
  • Utilise customer and performance insights to identify opportunities.
  • Enhance accessibility and understanding, and improve online experiences.

Customer Marketing Team:

  • Contribute to campaigns, communications, and customer-focused messaging across various channels.
  • Use insights to shape marketing activities and understand their impact.
  • Support more relevant customer engagement.

Throughout both rotations, you will explore the application of personalisation, data, technology, and AI in customer engagement. You will work with experienced colleagues to build transferable skills for a career in marketing, digital, or customer experience.

Your placement includes an induction, structured learning and development, and a 12-month project aligned with the Social Impact strategy. You will receive mentoring, development sessions, and support from experienced colleagues. You will also connect with other industrial placement students to learn and grow your network.
