Key Takeaways

  • Join JCB's 24-month Design and Development Graduate Scheme, starting September 2027.
  • Requires a bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant engineering field (e.g., mechanical, automotive) with a predicted or achieved 2:1 or higher.
  • Gain experience in product design, development, innovation, and commercial placements.
  • Includes 33 days' holiday, a market-leading pension, private medical health, and other benefits.

About the Role

This is an 18-month programme offering rotations across different business areas, including machine-focused work, component design (attachments), Design, Development, and Product Innovation. You will also have the opportunity for a commercial placement to gain a broader understanding of the business.

What you could be doing:

  • Current Product: Updating products to meet changing legislation and customer demands. This involves upgrading parts, designing new features, and developing existing ideas.
  • New Product: Designing future machines by working on elements of the five-year product plan, including reviewing challenges, creating solutions, testing new parts, and gathering customer feedback.
  • Development and Endurance: Testing designs to identify areas for improvement and ensure robustness in harsh environments, catching issues before they reach the customer.

What comes next:

  1. Applications reviewed against criteria, with shortlisting and online assessments sent out between November 2026 and January 2027.
  2. Online assessments reviewed, with updates provided within a few weeks. Successful candidates will be invited to an in-person Assessment Centre.
  3. In-person Assessment Centres will take place from January to April 2027.
