About Clyde & Co Bristol

Clyde & Co's Bristol office, established in 2018, supports clients in the insurance and infrastructure sectors, primarily offering contentious legal advice. Bristol's significance in the engineering and energy industries makes it an ideal location for this support.

The Energy & Construction Team

The Energy & Construction team in Bristol is part of a global group and specialises in contentious legal advice for clients in the construction sector. They handle matters related to renewable energy projects, large-scale UK infrastructure, and building safety regulations. The construction industry is a major contributor to the UK's GDP, and the team's work supports its legal framework.

Projects vary widely, from onshore windfarms to offshore windfarms and advising on major projects like Hinckley Point C. The team is described as friendly and supportive, with a history of developing trainees into partners.

What the Role Involves

As a construction lawyer, you will focus on contract law, including negotiating and drafting contracts, advising on contract management, and handling disputes. You will work on diverse contentious and non-contentious matters, potentially engaging in High Court cases or drafting contracts for new deals. The role offers the opportunity to shape your career based on your interests and work closely with qualified solicitors, with strong development support.

About the Programme

If you haven't started or completed the SQE, Clyde & Co will enrol and pay for your tuition fees and a maintenance grant for full-time study. The firm partners with the University of Law for an LLM course incorporating SQE1, SQE2, and an SQE Plus programme developed with Clyde & Co lawyers. This programme ensures thorough preparation for the SQE and equips you with essential skills.

You will receive support from an academic tutor, a Trainee Buddy, and a Mentor. A year-long programme of social events and engagement days is planned for Future Trainees. After 11 months of study, you will undertake your qualifying work experience (QWE) through a two-year training contract.
