About the Role

Audit matters to everyone. When a company shares its financial results, people need to know those numbers are accurate. Audit independently checks company financial reports so the public, investors and businesses can trust them. The landscape for audit reporting is changing fast, with increasing use of AI and other technologies to automate processes and improve accuracy. We need to audit AI financial systems and processes too, meaning the scope of the work is always growing.

What You'll Do

As companies share financial and business results, you will check the information is accurate. Using proven testing methods, you will look closely at how these figures are produced. You will learn to spot inaccuracies and ask why.

Our Audit practice has two core groups:

  • Large & Complex Audit: Includes listed companies (corporate and financial services) and their subsidiaries in the UK and internationally, as well as other public interest companies such as banks, insurers, large private companies, and public sector organisations.
  • Portfolio Audit: Spans a wide range of sectors including both emerging and large private corporates, real estate funds, pension schemes, financial services brokers and investment managers. This offers the opportunity to work with privately-owned, dynamic, entrepreneurial and high growth businesses, both in the UK and internationally.

Skills and Qualifications

You’ll need to have obtained or be studying towards a minimum 2:1 in any degree discipline and have graduated by September 2027 for the Autumn 2027 intake.

Development and Training

  • Technical Skills: Our Early Careers training programme provides foundational knowledge and skills for audits and assurance engagements, complementary to professional qualification training.
  • Soft Skills: Investment in professional development through training courses and on-the-job learning, building skills in communication, professional scepticism, decision-making, resilience, project management and leadership. You’ll also develop knowledge of digital tools, data analytics and emerging technologies, including AI.
  • Qualifications: You’ll study towards either the Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) or the Institute of Chartered Accountants Scotland (ICAS), depending on your location. These are globally recognised qualifications.
  • Training Pathway: The Early Careers Catalyst audit training pathway is designed to accelerate qualification training, professional development, and support wellbeing. It includes dedicated periods for professional qualification learning alongside structured work placements.
  • Support: Funded tuition, paid study leave, access to a support network including a student support adviser, coach, and exam manager. Costs for mandated courses, exam attempts, and membership fees are covered.
