About the Role
Aon is seeking penultimate-year students for its Insurance Actuarial Consulting & Reinsurance Analytics Summer Internship Programme. You do not need to be an actuarial expert to apply.
During the internship, you will apply quantitative techniques, data, models, commercial insight, and professional judgment to assist insurance and reinsurance clients in understanding, pricing, transferring, and managing financial risk. You will develop ownership, curiosity, collaboration, client focus, and sound judgment through a structured Launch Programme and on-the-job learning.
What You Will Do
As an Actuarial Intern, you will gain hands-on actuarial and analytical experience. Depending on business needs and role alignment, you will join either the Strategy & Technology Group (STG) within Insurance Actuarial Consulting or the Reinsurance Analytics team. Responsibilities may include:
- Building and running models for pricing, reserving, capital, and profitability, including reviewing AI-pre-populated baselines.
- Conducting data and risk analysis to identify patterns, test scenarios, and validate outputs against actuarial principles.
- Supporting analysis for insurance and reinsurance pricing, reserving, capital, catastrophe, exposure, and risk transfer.
- Drafting clear reports, summaries, and presentations to communicate technical findings.
- Supporting client meetings and translating methodology and technical analysis into a clear narrative.
- Contributing to actuarial research, process improvement, and responsible, technology-enabled ways of working.
Your Development
You will be enrolled in Aon's structured Early Careers Launch Programme, which combines meaningful work, business learning, professional development, and relationship-building.
- On-the-job learning: Gain exposure to data, modelling, assumptions, and client-ready analysis with actuarial consultants, client teams, analysts, brokers, and solution line specialists.
- Business and professional development: Focus on actuarial consulting, client service, communication, collaboration, problem-solving, inclusive working, commercial awareness, and dependable delivery.
- Exposure to tools and workflows: Work with data, analytics, modelling, and AI-enabled tools to support analysis, scenario testing, output review, documentation, and client recommendations.
- Support: Receive regular feedback and support from your line manager and colleagues.
Career Beyond the Internship
This programme is designed as a potential first step towards a long-term career at Aon. Strong performance may lead to an offer for the graduate programme the following year. If you join the graduate programme, you will receive structured development and professional qualification support towards Fellowship of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA), including paid study leave and materials.
Entry Requirements
- On track to achieve a 2:1 degree or equivalent in a highly numerical discipline (e.g., maths, actuarial science, economics, engineering, physics).
- Achieved an A grade or above in Maths A-level (or equivalent).
- Right to work in the UK.
What We Are Looking For
- Transferable skills or experience, strong motivation for an actuarial career, and an interest in professional qualifications.
- Strong quantitative background, numerical confidence, and ability to work with data, models, and risk-based information (insurance experience is not required).
- Strong critical-thinking, problem-solving, and analytical abilities with attention to detail and confidence to challenge assumptions.
- Business insight, commercial awareness, and an interest in helping clients make clear, confident, and evidence-based decisions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical ideas clearly.
- A collaborative and inclusive approach, with initiative, adaptability, dependability, and confidence in learning new technology-enabled ways of working.
