Key Takeaways
- Undertake an Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) Degree Apprenticeship.
- Gain practical experience in designing electrical, control and instrumentation systems for complex industrial environments, including the nuclear sector.
- Graduate with a Level 6 BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
- Requires 96 UCAS points from L3 qualifications in Engineering or related subjects, including Maths at Grade C (A-Level) or Merit/Distinction (T-Level/BTEC).
About the Role
This is a Degree Apprenticeship in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) engineering. You will gain practical experience across a wide range of engineering activities, supporting the design and development of Electrical, Control and Instrumentation systems used within complex industrial environments.
What you'll do at work
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team delivering projects of national importance across the nuclear energy, defence, and decommissioning sectors. You'll gain experience throughout the entire design lifecycle, from initial concept and feasibility studies through to detailed design and manufacture.
- Support the planning and execution of engineering and design activities, producing engineering drawings, calculations, and technical documentation. You'll develop practical skills using industry-leading tools and technologies such as AutoCAD, Inventor, augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and 3D printing.
Your training plan
- Combine academic study with hands-on workplace experience, allowing you to apply the knowledge gained through your university studies directly to real engineering projects.
- Progressively take on greater responsibility while being supported by experienced engineers and mentors. In your final year, you'll complete an End Point Assessment (EPA), which will demonstrate your competence and readiness for professional practice.
- Graduate with a Level 6 degree qualification in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (BEng), alongside valuable experience delivering engineering projects within the nuclear industry.
Entry Requirements
You will have or be working towards the minimum entry requirements of 96 UCAS points from L3 qualifications such as A-Levels, BTech or T-Level in Engineering or related topic.
Essential qualifications
- A-Level Mathematics (Grade C) or
- T-Level Engineering or Technical (Grade Merit or Distinction) or
- BTEC (Level 3) Engineering or Technical (Grade Merit or Distinction)
Desirable Qualifications
One or more of Electronics, Physics, Chemistry, Business, Computer Science, Design & Technology, Engineering, Further Mathematics or other STEM related subjects.
